Awkwafina is an American performer and actor who made her name with innovative raps which addressed sexuality and racial identities with the most comical of perspectives. Then she branched out into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first music experience. She performed on the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education She delved into hip-hop as a teen. In the college years, she remained focused on her studies, and then studied women's studies as well as journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also offered. After graduating, she began to concentrate on music.
