
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) is a striker. She also serves as captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of professional women's soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she was a co-captain of the American women's national soccer team along with Megan Rappinoe. In the months following her graduation earlier from the University of California, Berkeley and playing with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. The team made her debut in professional football and played in the team's win of the league title. Morgan aged 22 at the time, was the youngest player in the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. At the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final against Canada. The 2012 season ended with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to achieve 20 goals in one season. Following her selection as the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year Morgan was also an FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan played a role in helping to help the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. Morgan was also included in the Dream Team. In 2019, Morgan won the Silver Boot.
